| ~ Jinx to herself before stealing the Hextech Gemstone |
Powder, later known as Jinx, is one of the two main protagonists (alongside her older sister Vi) of Riot Games/Netflix's 2021 animated series Arcane, which is set in the League of Legends universe.
Originally a kind and clumsy girl who always wanted to prove her skills to her friends and family through her gadgetry, a catastrophic tragedy that she inadvertently caused left Powder's mind and heart utterly broken. After being adopted by the crime lord Silco as his daughter, she took on the name Jinx and eventually became a notorious anarchist with a passion for causing chaos and destruction.
She was voiced by Ella Purnell as a teenager/young adult and Mia Sinclair Jenness as a child.
Her Evil Ranking[]
Her Villainous Deeds[]
- She caused an explosion in Jayce’s lab while stealing Arcane stones, which killed innocents and ignites Piltover’s wrath against Zaun.
- Her use of unstable Arcane device during Vander’s rescue leads to a massive explosion, killing her adopted brothers and devastating Vi in the process.
- After being abandoned by Vi, she willingly aligns with Silco, transforming into Jinx and committing atrocities under his influence.
- Ambushes a group of Firelights during a Shimmer smuggling operation, using explosives and a machine gun to slaughter them indiscriminately.
- Rigs Jayce’s factory with explosives, killing numerous Enforcers and civilians to steal a Hextech gemstone.
- The Hextech gemstone causes destruction, crippling Piltover’s industrial capacity and escalating tensions with Zaun.
- Unleashes explosive drones on the Piltover-Enforcer squad, killing Marcus and other officers while recovering the Hextech gemstone.
- Brutally fights Ekko, showing no hesitation to kill him. She even attempts a suicide grenade attack during their battle.
- Tortures Silco, accusing him of knowing that Vi was alive and lying about it. Later she kidnaps him when thinking he planned to turn her over to Piltover.
- Abducts Vi and Caitlyn, forcing them into a twisted reunion and emotionally tormenting Vi with accusations of betrayal.
- She accidentally kills Silco while trying to prevent him from harming Vi.
- Uses her Hextech-powered rocket launcher to obliterate the Piltover council tower, killing several council members, one of these being Caitlyn's Kiraman's mother. This led to Caitlyn losing most of her kindness & compassion, which could've gotten Isha killed later down the line.
- Floods Zaun with toxic chemicals, causing sickness among its citizens, including children, and forcing many to rely on gas masks.
- Lures a team of Piltover Enforcers into a deadly trap using unsettling dolls, leaving them to die in toxic Grey smog.
- Sadistically fights Vi, using every weapon at her disposal, including bombs, guns, and even her bare hands, to try and kill her sister.
- After Silco’s death, she destabilizes Zaun by triggering power struggles among the Chembarons, leaving the city in chaos.
- Her escalating attacks on Piltover’s infrastructure turn the simmering conflict between the two cities into an all-out war.
Why She Doesn't Stand Out?[]
- Despite passing the baseline due to killing countless people and committing a plethora of other heinous crimes, she fails the series' massive heinous standard compared to Singed, who experimented on numerous people, and even her own adoptive father Silco, who killed hundreds of civilians with Shimmer, both of whom have similar resources to her.
- Although causing the war between Zaun and Piltover could help her stand out, it was not only too indirect on her part, but also unintentional since she didn’t know that attacking the council would instigate the conflict, so Ambessa did that for her by launching several attacks and invasions to make herself and her family look like the heroes.
- She's way too tragic for NPE:
- Witnessed the brutal deaths of her birth parents at a young age, leaving her and Vi orphaned.
- Adopted by Vander, she struggled with self-esteem as her attempts to help often caused problems, earning harsh criticism from Mylo and being labeled a “jinx.”
- Accidentally killed her adopted brothers Mylo and Claggor and indirectly caused Vander’s death while trying to save them.
- Traumatized further when Vi, in her grief, hit her and seemingly abandoned her (though she was actually kidnapped by Marcus).
- Killed Silco on accident when trying to prevent him from hurting Vi, effectively killing her own father figure for the second time and seeing her father figure die for the third time.
- Saw Isha sacrifice herself to stop a berserk Warwick from hurting her, Vi, & Caitlyn in Viktor's commune, which led to her giving herself over to the Enforcers.
- This ultimately culminated in Jinx locking Vi up in her cell & then trying to commit suicide since almost everyone she loves either is her enemy or is already dead.
- She genuinely cares for many people:
- Despite their strained relationship, she loves her sister and yearns for reconciliation, often expressing this in misguided ways.
- She deeply mourns those she lost, including Vander, Mylo, Claggor, and Silco, and creates dolls of her brothers to process her guilt.
- Silco, whom she comes to see as a father and deeply mourns for his death.
- She becomes protective of Isha, going to great lengths to rescue and care for her, adopting her into her family, which even begins her redemption. In fact, the only reason Jinx got arrested was that Isha sacrificed herself to stop Warwick's rampage in Viktor's commune, which drove her into giving herself up.
- Builds a new prosthetic arm for Sevika and bonds over their shared loss of Silco, despite their initial differences.
- She ultimately redeems herself in the second season, beginning to atone by rescuing Isha and freeing unlawfully detained Zaunites from Stillwater, and teams up with Ekko and the Firelights to prevent Ambessa and Viktor’s catastrophic invasion of the Hexgates, ultimately sacrificing herself to save Vi from Warwick and then choosing to leave Piltover and Zaun to "walk away" from the cycle of violence.
