“ | Let me ask you, what have the governments, religions and people of this world accomplished? Up until now, people have lived in fear of those with power, and were ruled by an iron fist. Who could possibly save such a twisted world? I wanted the two of us to clash and destroy each other. Then, I could finally be free of this accursed blood in my veins, and the world would be saved. But there would be only one chance. | „ |
~ Jin Kazama revealing his motives to Lars Alexandersson. |
“ | Yeah. It's all on me. The devil's blood runs through my veins, so it's up to me to kill Kazuya. | „ |
~ Jin vowing to atone for his sins. |
Jin Kazama is the main protagonist of the Tekken fighting game series. He is the son of Kazuya and Jun Kazama. While he's normally an anti-hero, he takes on a villainous role in Tekken 6 where his misanthropy and cynicism culminates in him starting a global scale war just to awaken and defeat Azazel.
He is voiced by Isshin Chiba.
His Evil Ranking[]
His Villainous Deeds[]
- Even before the sixth game in the series, he was already a prideful individual motivated and driven by vengeance on the one who seemingly killed his mother Jun, when in reality, she just disappeared.
- He created the Devil Jin persona, which hospitalized his rival Hwoarang.
- Upon becoming the CEO of the Mishima Zaibatsu, he became a ruthless leader and started a war across the world, launching attacks on entire countries that went against his ways.
- He gathered enough power to awaken Azazel, who would enslave all of humanity and try to wipe it out.
- He killed Azazel to free himself from the Devil Gene, even if the latter absolutely warranted it for everything he has done.
Why Doesn't He Stand Out?[]
- Despite easily passing the baseline due to risking a third world war, he ultimately fails the franchise's heinous standard to Kazuya himself, who has similar resources due to both being the CEO of the Mishima Zaibatsu for a while and having access to the Devil Gene but did way worse by destroying an entire city, willingly enabling the war between the Zaibatsu and G Corporation and almost corrupting the world into a Darwinistic society, making the scale of his goal bigger than Jin's.
- He also fails to Heihachi, who sent Ancient Ogre to kill numerous fighters around the world with less resources and power due to lacking the Devil Gene.
- While it's true that Jin is the one responsible for Azazel's villainy, it's still not enough for him to stand out as he outright defeats him with noble intent later on, which downplays the crime's severity.
- He is too sympathetic for NPE, as his mother went missing on his fifteenth birthday when he tried to save her from Ancient Ogre and he was manipulated into believing she died, leading to him desiring to avenge her. Other factors that caused his descent into evil include being betrayed by Heihachi and almost always failing to save the world from Kazuya.
- He immensely loves his mother Jun, as he was devastated when she disappeared and his crimes are motivated by her absence. He was also genuinely happy to see her alive in the eighth game.
- He is very affable and frequently ends up being polite to even the people that he dislikes, such as Heihachi, given he put aside their rivalry to ask him for advice on rescuing Jun.
- He is an incredibly honorable person, given he spares people even when he could kill them.
- He is an extremist as he only wanted Azazel to free him from his Devil Gene, even if it meant endangering the world.
- He is shown to have firm standards, as he was disgusted and shocked by Kazuya's plan to wipe out the home nations of those who lost his twisted tournament and he constantly tries to defeat him.
- In the seventh game, he redeems himself by setting out to defeat Kazuya for good and keep the world safe, which succeeds in the eighth game.
