His name is Huggy!
Huggy Wuggy,
When he hugs you, he'll never stop!
Your friend Huggy!
Huggy Wuggy,
He'll squeeze you until you pop!
~ Huggy Wuggy's theme song, foreshadowing his true nature.

STARVING
~ A note presumably left by Huggy.
If I were you, I'd start running.
~ The ending of Leith Pierre's tape at the end of Chapter 4, as Huggy reveals himself to still be alive.

Experiment-1170: Huggy Wuggy, is one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside CatNap) of the Poppy Playtime franchise.

He is a gigantic, blue sloth-like living toy who guards the main entrance of Playtime Co. in preparation to ferociously kill and devour anyone who enters the facility. Like most of the other toys, Huggy is actually an orphaned child who was transformed into a giant, monstrous toy under Harley Sawyer's Bigger Bodies Initiative. He is the arch-nemesis of the Intruder.

He was voiced by Zachary Preciado in his character cutout seen in Chapter 2 and by Micah Preciado in his character cutout seen in Chapters 3 and 4.

His Evil Ranking[]

His Villainous Deeds[]

  • As revealed in a tie-in video, he once escaped from the Playtime CO. factory and, upon being followed, murdered 11 employees before being caught and brought back to the factory. Five of the employees were brutally killed and had their corpses found, while 6 remained missing.
    • He also killed at least one deer along the way.
  • He was one of the toys that brutally attacked and almost killed a tiny Bron the Dinosaur toy simply due to being a modified Playtime CO. employee. While the man who would become Bron did know of what was happening at Playtime, this doesn't justify what Huggy did and the employee is played for sympathy.
  • He participated in the Hour of Joy alongside the other toys, massacring all of Playtime's employees and devouring their corpses, having killed around four employees on-screen and likely massacred more off-screen. Not only was it stated that even the innocent employees who did not know about the experiments were slaughtered, but some of his victims are also implied to have been simple visitors of the factory who had nothing to do with Playtime CO. at all, Poppy outright stating the carnage was senseless.
  • In Project: Playtime, he tries to attack and kill at least six employees at the factory. Depending on how the player plays, he can either succeed or fail.
  • He tries to kill the Intruder in once they return to the factory. It's heavily implied that this attempt to take their life has traumatized them, as shown by their first exposure to Catnap's red smoke when they're chased by a hallucination of Huggy.
  • At the end of Chapter 4, he appears to attack and try to kill the Intruder again.
  • While he is clearly unstable and animalistic, also likely being an orphan without much knowledge of the real world, nothing states he lacks a knowledge of right and wrong.
  • While he never speaks or shows many personality traits, his personality is described enough in later chapters and shown in the "Sleep Well" music video enough to avoid being a Generic Doomsday Villain.

Why Doesn't He Stand Out?[]

  • While participating in the Hour of Joy is enough to pass baseline, in addition to his personal villainy towards the Protagonist, he ultimately fails the system standard of Poppy Playtime as every experiment did that, and he doesn't do anything to stand out from other toys even with his higher kill count. This is very visible when compared to CatNap (who killed and tortured dozens of toys and played a major role in the Hour of Joy) and Miss Delight (who tried to massacre children and cannibalized her sisters), who both did more than Huggy with equal or lesser resources.
  • He is a tragic character due to being an orphaned child who was turned into a monster and experimented on by the Playtime CO. employees as part of the Bigger Bodies Initiative. Even him fleeing the factory is sympathetic as he tried to escape the horrible treatment he suffered and hide inside a family's house, and was only hostile due to self-defense. It's also heavily implied he attacks mostly due to starvation.
  • The music video for "Sleep Well", an official Poppy Playtime song, shows he has a friendship with Kissy Missy, with them spending time together in Playcare while preparing for the Hour of Joy.

Trivia[]

  • He has gone through what could be called "moral scaling hell": He was originally proposed as Near Pure Evil but got rejected for being too standard at the time, deeming him a Villainous Benchmark. He was later proposed and approved Inconsistently Heinous when it was confirmed he had a large kill count, but he was later removed after the Heinous Standards had sharply risen from the Hour of Joy in Chapter 3, reverting him back to a Villainous Benchmark.
    • In Chapter 4, he is confirmed to be alive, so it is possible that his status will change yet again.
