Hizdahr zo Loraq is a supporting antagonist in the A Song of Ice and Fire novel series and its television adaptation Game of Thrones. He is an extremely wealthy Ghiscari nobleman and one of the Great Masters of Meereen, who married with Daenerys Targaryen to become the King of Meereen.
In the show, he was portrayed by Joel Fry.
His Evil Ranking[]
His Villainous Deeds[]
- Partially supports the Grand Masters of Meereen and slavery.
- He opposes freeing the slaves as quickly as Daenerys is trying to do, although it is understandable since this destroys the old order and causes an internal war in the city.
- Calling on Daenerys not to save Jorah Mormont during the big games.
Exclusive to books:
- He seems to be a big supporter of the harpies and responsible for the massacre they caused.
- Offers Daenerys to eat food that he poisoned. Although Daenerys does not eat from it, the strong Belvas eats from it and only because of his size survives the poisoning.
- He is obsessed with honor and seems to only care about himself.
Why he Doesn't Stand Out?[]
- His worst actions are supporting a terrorist organization and supporting slavery and books also a single poisoning attempt. In any case, it falls short of the abominable baseline standards of the series.
- His character from the TV series is presented in a much more positive light in which he is an anti-villain with respect for Daenerys and he tries to save her.
- It also seems that he cares about his father as he asks to take down his hanging body.
- He is also a scapegoat in the series as the harpies finally kill him for helping Daenerys.
