The Demogorgon is a major antagonist in the Netflix original series Stranger Things. It is one of the two main antagonists (alongside Martin Brenner) of Season 1, and a posthumous antagonist in every other season.
It is a scout of The Mind Flayer who ended up in the main world through a portal in the Hawkins National Laboratory, and then went on a killing spree and ate many Hawkins residents.
It was portrayed by Mark Steger.

- After escaping from the Upside Down, it attacked and killed a scientist in the Hawkins National Laboratory.
- It kidnapped Will Byers and took him to the Upside Down.
- It used Will to reproduce and create the Demodogs, making it essentially a child rapist.
- It called Will's mother, Joyce Byers, and taunted her over Will being kidnapped.
- It murdered one of Martin Brenner's men, Shepard, when he was sent into the Upside Down.
- It killed the best friend of Nancy Wheeler, Barbara Holland, which would end up traumatizating the former.
- It tried to kill Holly Wheeler and would've done it if Joyce didn't save her.
- It ate a deer before Jonathan Byers and Nancy could end its suffering.
- It went on a rampage throughout Hawkins Middle School, slaughtered many of Brenner's men and attacked Brenner himself.
- It tried to kill the Party and Eleven when they tried to stop him.
- It posthumously had an impact in the next season, being the one responsible for the creation of the Demodogs, the deaths of Bob Newby and Dustin Henderson's cat and the supposed demise of Eleven, which had an impact on Mike.
Why Doesn't It Stand Out?[]
- While it's kill count passes the general baseline, since it has been confirmed that the Mind Flayer had the control of the Upside-Down Hive Mind, all of its acts are part of the Mind Flayer's control, and thus The Demogorgon fails the heinous standards.
- While he has some grade of thinking, it is mostly a mindless predator with neither personality nor moral agency, making him insufficiently characterized.
