Villainous Benchmark Wiki

There is only one person who matters to me, and I live to protect and serve him. That is my purpose.
~ Haku on his master

Haku is a supporting antagonist in the Naruto anime/manga series, acting as Naruto Uzumaki's first enemy. He is the right-hand assassin of Zabuza Momochi.

He was voiced by Mayumi Asano in Japanese and by Susan Dalian in the English dub.

His Evil Ranking[]

His Villainous Deeds[]

  • Allied himself with Zabuza and commited various murders.
  • He was hired to assassinate the bridge builder Tazuna.
  • Although he has a comedic moment when he reveals to Naruto that he is a boy and the latter (who mistook him for a girl) is surprised, it is not detracting because takes place during a cooling-off period while the rest of the time he is taken very seriously.
  • He traps Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha in an ice mirror and wounds Sasuke, although he didn’t plan to kill the latter.

Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]

  • While he passes the baseline by having killed dozens of people at least, Haku doesn't stand out for two reasons:
    • Severely fails the high heinous standard in the franchise, including Zabuza who is a hitman.
    • His worst crimes are done off screen and left ambiguous. They are also under Zabuza's orders, who is working under Gato.
  • He is extremely tragic. He was chased out of his village due to his Kekkai Genkai. His mother ended up being killed and his father and the rest of the village tried to kill him, forcing him to use his ice spikes to defend himself, resulting in the death of his father and the villagers and leaving him orphaned.
  • He is kind-hearted and extremely affable.
  • He is extremely loyal to Zabuza, despite never being thanked by him. He even sacrifices his life to save him.
  • He dislikes killing and avoids doing so whenever possible. He even purposely spares Sasuke's life during their fight, instead putting him in a death-like state in order to end the battle. Additionally, he shows respect to Sasuke and is implied to be willing to honor the dead.
    • His onscreen kill count boils down to the events of the Great Ninja War, where he was a reincarnation with his body being controlled by Kabuto and was forced to kill against his will (to the point of pleading for Kakashi to stop him).
  • Naruto and the rest of Team 7 empathize with him, despite being enemies. His death is played with extreme sympathy.
  • When he is revived through Edo Tensei, he has a tear-jerking moment of realizing Zabuza truly cared for him.
