Grim is one of the three titular main protagonists of the animated series The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy. Originally the self-proclaimed "Master of the Forces of Life and Death", he became Billy and Mandy's friend-slave after losing to them in a game of limbo so that they could save the soul of Billy's pet hamster, Mr. Snuggles, and the three of them have gone on misadventures ever since.

He was voiced by Greg Eagles, who also voiced Baraka in Mortal Kombat X.

His Evil Ranking[]

In General[]

  • While it could be argued that it is his job to reap souls in order to maintain the balance of life and death, he has on numerous occasions stated that he takes pleasure in dragging souls to the Underworld, proving him to be sadistic. In fact, in the episode "Anger Mismanagement", it was revealed that he was sent to anger management class for "enjoying his job too much".
  • He often fantasizes about killing Billy and Mandy or seeing them dying in gruesome ways several times over.
  • While Boogey Man and Bun Bun are obviously worse than him, they have more resources.

His Villainous Deeds[]

  • In "Meet the Reaper", he attempts to reap the soul of Billy's pet hamster.
  • In "Skeletons in the Water Closet", although he didn't intend to drive Billy's mother Gladys insane to the point where she had to stay over Aunt Sis' house temporarily, he didn't seem sorry, as at the end of the episode, we see him laugh maniacally and give the viewer thumbs up.
  • In "Get Out of My Head!", he possesses Billy's pet cat Milkshakes.
  • In "Fiend is Like Friend Without the 'R'", he leaves Billy and Mandy stranded in the center of the Earth with Nergal in the hopes that they'll be tortured for all eternity.
  • In "Grim vs. Mom", he attempts to kill Billy's mother Gladys.
  • In "Beasts & Barbarians", he transports Billy, Mandy and Irwin to a real-life version of the titular game and attempts to have them killed by manipulating the traps.
  • In "It's Hokey Mon!", he brings the Hokeymonsters from Billy and Irwin's card game to life, with the monsters causing chaos in Endsville as a result.
  • In "Brown Evil", he causes a zombie uprising by leaving the Evil Powder-laced brownies in the trash can outside, with its aroma creeping its way to Endsville Cemetary and resurrecting the dead. In the same episode, he and Mandy send Billy outside all alone to deal with the zombies armed with nothing but a stick and refuse to help him, with Grim stating that he "already put those guys down once", which is a poor excuse not to help him.
  • In "The Grim Show", he performs a hostile takeover of a TV station over them cancelling his favorite show "Atrocia's Late Night Atrocities".
  • In a way, he was responsible for making Jack O'Lantern a villain, when he cut off his head after Jack struck a deal with him to grant him immortality.
  • In "Sickly Sweet", he and Billy curse Mandy by putting the Mask of the Beast on her, which causes her to transform her into a hideous beast every time she acts like a jerk. At the beginning of the same episode, he puts gauntlets on Billy's arms, which tears them out of his arm sockets and beats Billy up with them for reaching into the pockets of his robe.
  • In "Chocolate Sailor", after Billy gets into a chocolate sailor and explodes after eating a whole box of enchanted chocolates (including the antidote), he and Mandy scoop up his remains and use them as chocolate sauce to eat ice cream.
  • In "The Schlubs", he attempts to reap the souls of the titular race of creatures living in Billy's backyard and melt them down into gold bars just so he could fund the production of a proper finale for his favorite show "My Troubled Pony".
  • In "Major Cheese", he, Billy and Mandy hijack a truck full of copies of Mighty Moe's book "You Can Live Forever with Bonus Years" and fly it into space to prevent people from learning about Mighty Moe's secret to longevity.
  • In "Yeti or Not, Here I Come", he attempts to reap the Yeti (or "Abom", as he likes to be called) eons after the latter escaped from his grasp.
  • In "Anger Mismanagement", after the anger management instructor Larry gets arrested for attacking a man with a burger on his head for ruining his parking space, he, Mandy and General Skarr steal his van and take it for a test drive.
  • In "Detention X", upon becoming Billy and Mandy's substitute teacher, he sends misbehaving students to the Detention Dimension where they are subjected to eternal torture.
  • In "The Grim Adventures of the KND", he painfully tortures Numbuh 1, who was disguised as Billy at the time, with the Bone of Barnacles in order to get information on the whereabouts of his sycthe.

Why Doesn't He Stand Out?[]

  • While it’s true that he shouldn’t have to be compared to Boogey Man or Bun Bun, he fails the Heinous Standards of the series to Mandy, who has fewer resources yet she has done numerous heinous acts that are far more vile.
  • He relies on Fridge Horror, as it’s unclear if his attempt to kill the Schlubs was an intended genocide as it’s not known if melting them down into gold bars would torture or kill them. Even if it was true, he’d still be on this wiki, as Mandy has done far worse than him in general.
  • He has far too many comedic moments to count as Near Pure Evil, and the fact that he is from The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, a dark comedy show with negative continuity, is further proof that he is not meant to be taken seriously as a villain.
  • Overall, he's an anti-villain, as it is his job to reap souls and take them to the Underworld in order to maintain the balance of life and death.
  • He is rather tragic, as he didn't become the Grim Reaper by choice, but because his parents forced him to, making him a villain by proxy.
  • He is a scapegoat, as he more often than not receives torment from Billy and Mandy (mostly the latter) after being forced into being their best friend forever. The most notorious example of this is the episode "Opposite Day", where the two kids use the titular holiday to force him to do their chores and torment him for their own amusement.
  • Despite him consistently loathing them, there are times when he actually cares for Billy and Mandy, with some examples being the episode "Fiend is Like Friend Without the 'R'" where he goes to the center of the Earth to rescue them from being held captive by Nergal out of remorse for leaving them there, and in the episode "Scythe 2.0" where he saves them from being reaped by the titular scythe.
  • He is affably evil, especially during times when he's not reaping souls.
  • He is on and off, as he does as many heroic deeds as he does villainous deeds. Some notable examples being:
    • In "Billy & Mandy's Jacked Up Halloween", where he puts an end to Jack O'Lantern's scheme to make Halloween every night forever by sending him back to the Underworld.
    • In "Billy & Mandy's Big Boogey Adventure", where he plays the biggest role in saving the world from being eternally ruled by Boogey Man.
    • In "The Grim Adventures of the KND", where he helps Numbuh 1 defeat the Delightful Reaper.
    • In "Underfist: A Halloween Bash", where he, along with Billy and Mandy, aid the titular team Underfist in stopping Bun Bun from taking over the world with an army of candy monsters.
