ā€œ Oh, what are you doing now? Grim... you don't buy from the people you are stealing from! Now let's keep moving. ā€ž
~ Jalkar Bowmani regarding Grim's naivety.
ā€œ The mute one... I believe he is the Reaper. ā€ž
~ Lucidius to Zinaida before fighting the mercenaries.

Grim is a supporting antagonist of the animated web series, Songs of War.

He is Jalkar Bowmani's accomplice on his quest to steal the Dragon Stone for the Voltaris. He tags along with Jalkar to pay off a debt, but ultimately gets ditched.

Unable to speak, he instead communicates via aquatic-sounding grunts and chortles. He is voiced by series creator, David R. B.

His Evil Ranking[]

His Villainous Deeds[]

  • In order to pay off his debt, he assists Jalkar in infiltrating Etherea to steal the Dragon Stone.
  • He killed three guards (and possibly a fourth) who were in the way of him escaping Etherea.
  • Under Jalkar's instructions, he fought Abbigail and kicked Sam the wolf after he bit him.
  • When double-crossed by the Voltaris, he killed all the ones who went after him, including one that fled.
  • After getting ditched by Jalkar, he vengefully attempted to kill Abbigail for making it happen.
    • During this fight, he pinned down Sam and nearly killed him.

Why Doesn't He Stand Out?[]

  • He fails the Heinous Standard to Jalkar himself, as Grim's worst actions amount to just supporting him. Grim even has more resources, with his powerful weapon and near-impenetrable armor.
  • He genuinely thought of Jalkar as a friend, becoming upset and wrathful after he ditched him.
  • Some of Grim's main traits are clumsiness and incompetence, as shown by him face-planting after falling, accidentally causing the Stone to be dropped, going on a wrong shortcut, and getting on Jalkar's horse rather than his own. All of these moments are played comedically.
  • He can be naive at times, buying his electrified scythe instead of stealing and getting happy when Jalkar picked up a Song to sell.
  • Despite having a few kills himself, Grim does not enjoy harming innocents, as visibly shown by his uncomfortable appearance after Jalkar stabs two guards and punches Mr. Finch. This is also shown when he flees from the guards who initially spotted him, who he could have easily defeated.
    • Additionally, his kills against the Voltaris are justified as self-defence since they were the ones who started the fight.
  • If taking the scripts of the unreleased seasons into account, Grim redeems himself by joining the Knights of Ardonia, an organization founded to stop the Voltaris and Nether.
