NOTE: This article is only about his villainous deeds in the book series, as his film counterpart has his own page, and his Dog Man: Mission Impawsible counterpart has not been morally ranked yet.

Li'l Petey: You shouldn’t have done that, Grampa!
Grampa: Why? What do you care?
Li'l Petey: He’s my Papa. I love him!
Grampa: Yeah, well — Suit yourself! I’ve never felt any Love for that Hothead!
~ Grampa telling Li'l Petey how he doesn’t really love his son.
I don't know what you're so happy about! We're wet, we're cold, and you don't even seem to care that WE'VE BEEN STUCK IN JAIL FOR YEARS!
~ Grampa's villainous breakdown at Big Jim.
Big Jim: Where are you going, Sprinkles?
Grampa: To hug town!
~ Grampa before defeating the Space Cuties.

Mr. "Grampa" TheCat, also temporarily known as Crud or as his superhero alter-ego Sprinkles, is the overarching antagonist of Dav Pilkey's Dog Man book series.

His Evil Ranking[]

Debated Validations[]

  • In Dog Man: Big Jim Begins, Grampa states that it was easy for Big Jim to say that freedom was in his mind, as he had never suffered. While it is not put in a sympathetic light, it does imply a tragic or rough past. However, there's too little evidence to support the claim, as Grampa never states why he said Big Jim had never suffered.

His Villainous Deeds[]

  • He lied to the eye alien that he knew where the young Nurse Lady lived and stole the Ring of Destiny to use to propose to Grace.
  • He was the reason that his son Petey the Cat was corrupted after he betrayed Petey and Grace.
  • He destroyed multiple plates in his son's laboratory when he was invited in by Li'l Petey.
  • He stole Petey and Li'l Petey's things from Petey's lab.
  • He impersonated as Petey in order to escape from prison and left Petey to be falsely imprisoned.
  • He left Li'l Petey, his own grandson who's clearly a child, in a recycling bin after kidnapping him from Petey.
  • After learning about the Fair Fairy's vengeance, he immediately went to join her.
  • He created a helmet that multiplied one's true personality into a giant monster with ten times as much of their personality, and after putting it on, he became an evil, monsterous and menacing spider-like monster.
  • As Crud, he did countless of villainous deeds such as bank robbery and disturbing the peace.
  • He tried to kill Cat Man after he tried to arrest him.
  • He stole a can of Living Spray and used it to create Munchy.
  • He grabbed the police car with Dog Man, Chief, Sarah, and Zuzu and threw it far away in an attempt to murder each of them.
  • He created an evil plot that needed Living Spray and Cannery Grow.
  • He disguised himself as Big Jim's cardboard robot to escape prison.
  • He presumably successfully stole a can of Living Spray and Cannery Grow from his own son.
  • He indirectly created the Sippy Cups and, while this wasn't intentional, he shows no remorse for it.
  • He originally pretended to be a superhero to escape prison with Big Jim.
  • He continuously tried to quit being a superhero and turn back to villainy.
  • While he killed every of the Space Cuties purposely, which ultimately saving the world temporarily, he did this merely out of pragmatic reasons to escape their imprisonment, and brushes off their deaths because they were robots when Big Jim calls him out for killing them.

Why Doesn't He Stand Out?[]

  • While he passes the baseline due to trying to kill several people and his personal villainy towards Petey, he fails the heinous standards to other villains, like Piggy, and Fair Fairy, who did much worse with less resources.
  • While he was originally taken very seriously, as the series went on, he turned into more of a comedic relief character rather than anything.
  • He seems to have some regret over his actions with Grace as he reflects on what he did with the Ring of Destiny and Stuff.
  • He is, at times, friendly to Big Jim, even calling him "buddy" in Mothering Heights, even if he never admits it.
