Jeez, I didn't ask for your life's story, jabberjaw!
~ Grampa to Li'l Petey.

"Grampa" The Cat is the overarching antagonist of DreamWorks Animation's 48th full-length animated feature film Dog Man, based off of Dav Pilkey's book series of the same name.

He is Petey the Cat's abusive and selfish father who abandoned Petey and his mother, Grace, when the former was very young. Because of this, Grampa is considered the main reason into Petey's path of villainy.

He was voiced by Stephen Root.

His Evil Ranking[]

His Villainous Deeds[]

  • He was abusive to both his son and his wife, betraying the two and stealing all of their belongings. This event led to Petey becoming a villain and doing terrible crimes.
  • When he was brought back, he made fun of Li'l Petey, though he only did it after Li'l Petey made fun of him.
  • He yells at Petey and ultimately proves that he will never redeem.
  • He makes a ruckus and destroys countless of plates and other dining items within Petey's lab.
  • When Li'l Petey asks if he could get help to save Dog Man and Petey, Grampa refuses to do so.
  • Grampa, like he did before the film's events, leaves Petey, Li'l Petey, and 80-HD while leaving with all of their belongings. However, he leaves Li'l Petey's comics since he didn't care for and didn't want them. This event almost changes Li'l Petey's view in life entirely.
  • While he does have a couple comedic moments (like calling 80-HD a "nincompoopsicle"), they don't detract from his villainy as they generally emphasize how unpleasant he is and his crimes are still played seriously.

Why Doesn't He Stand Out?[]

  • While his personal villainy against Petey by abandoning him twice (along with his wife), resulting in him becoming a villain does overall pass the baseline, he ultimately fails the heinous standard of the film to Petey, who has done countless terrible and villainous deeds while Grampa has only really done two villainous deeds.
