“ | He's a product of civilization. Men are the only real monsters. Godzilla's more like a nuclear weapon. … A living nuclear weapon destined to walk the Earth forever. Indestructible. A victim of the modern nuclear age. | „ |
~ Dr. Hayashida on Godzilla |
Godzilla is the titular main villainous protagonist of the Godzilla Heisei era.
He was once a Godzillasaurus inhabited in Lagos Island before being mutated by a nuclear submarine. He grew to a massive 100 meter tall monster. He would later have an adopted son named Godzilla Junoir (alias Baby/LittleGodzilla). While he caused destruction across Japan, he would sometimes take out much bigger threats.
He was portrayed by the late Kenpachiro Satsuma. As Godzillasaurus, he was portrayed by Wataru Fukuda.
His Evil Ranking[]
His Villainous Deeds[]
In General[]
- With the exception of Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla and Mechagodzilla II to a lesser extent, he continuously wreaked havoc across Japan sometimes in pure malice, longer than any other monsters in the Heisei era.
- He destroyed and murdered thousands of G-Force's military force that were trying to defend their home country.
- While he was initially clueless and unaware the destruction he caused due to not being familiar to his surroundings, he becomes much more vengeful as the series progress.
Return of Godzilla[]
- He attacked the nuclear power plant in Shizuoka Prefecture.
- He destroyed Super X.
Godzilla vs. Biollante[]
- He destroyed the newly model Super X2.
- He had killed a G-Force soldier Goro Gondo by crushing the building he's occupied in, causing the latter's best friend Akira Yuki in becoming vengeful later in Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla.
- Battled Biollante twice and mortally wounded her, forcing her to break apart into spores.
Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah[]
- He destroyed the nuclear submarine, causing him to grow from 80 to 100 meters.
- Just as he defeated King Ghidorah, he severed the latter's middle head and nearly killing him. He then proceeded to rampage Japan, just as Chuck Wilson predicted.
- He personally killed Yasuaki Shindo for leaving him to die back in Lagos Island.
- He killed Mecha-King Ghidorah who were trying to protect Tokyo as they were falling.
Godzilla vs. Mothra (1992)[]
- He attacked the barge carrying the Mothra egg unprovoked, forcing her to hatch.
- As Mothra and her evil counterpart Battra were fighting in Yokohama, Godzilla arrived and almost killed Battra. This led to Mothra communicating with Battra to team up and defeat Godzilla together.
- He brutally bites Battra's throat before killing him with atomic breath, causing both of them to fall into the ocean.
Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II[]
- At Adonoa Island, he choked then nearly killed Rodan as they were fighting over the prehistoric egg, which would later reveal to be Baby Godzilla.
- With Rodan sacrificing himself to Godzilla in healing his second brain and giving him the radiation boost, he destroyed Mechagodzilla, with the pilots nearly dying from the atomic breath.
Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla[]
- He destroyed his ally Moguera as he was killing SpaceGodzilla, although it is debatably unintentional.
Godzilla vs. Destoroyah[]
- After losing his home of Baas Island when his heart heated up and turned the island into ashes, he attacked Hong Kong in a fit of rage.
- In his burning form, if he absorbs too much radiation, his nuclear explosion from his heart could potentially vaporize the entire Earth, killing everyone and everything across the planet.
Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]
- While he does pass the baseline, he ultimately fails the heinous standard to other monsters in the Heisei era, mainly Battra, SpaceGodzilla, and Destoroyah. Which they all willingly to caused more destructions, not just Japan, but all over Earth with similar recourses.
- While one could argue that Godzilla is heinous enough to pass the standard as his burning form is capable of destroying the entire planet, the nuclear explosion is something that Godzilla has no control over, nor was it his intention to so, thus making him more unintentionally heinous.
- He is FAR too tragic to considered NPE as he was once a normal dinosaur who was caught in the middle of World War II and then was mutated from the nuclear explosion. He unwillingly became a giant monster completely lost and alone in the world.
- He is shown to care for couple of individuals. First is Yasuaki Shindo, though Godzilla still hated him when the former soldier abandoned him when Godzilla was injured. When Shindo expressed guilt and subtlety asked Godzilla to kill him, the monster mournfully gave him the mercy kill. Second is Miki Sagusa, when she telekinetically removed the T-Project mind control device that had been placed on his neck, he expressed his gratitude towards her. Lastly is his adopted son Godzilla Junior, he deeply care for his son to the point that he prioritized protecting him over fighting SpaceGodzilla. When Destoroyah had seemingly killed his son, he was shown shedding tears and even tried to revive his son with his atomic breath.
- He is on-and-off as he is shown saving the Earth from multiple monsters. He even willing to put his differences aside and team up with humanity in defeating SpaceGodzilla and Destoroyah.
- His death is incredibly sympathetic as his body slowly melts down with his long, crying roar bursting out as he dies with sad music called "Requiem" being played, as well the humans and the military watches his death with deep sorrow. Even Colonel Takaaki Aso, the commander who was hellbent on killing Godzilla, felt sadden by the monster's demise.
