Garlic is the overarching antagonist of the 1989 film Dragon Ball Z: Dead Zone and the Garlic Jr. Saga of the anime adaptation of Dragon Ball Z. He never makes an appearance other than some minor flashbacks.
His Evil Ranking[]
His Villainous Deeds[]
- He becomes the disciple of the previous Guardian of the Earth to inherit the position, but unlike Kami, who wanted to be a benevolent ruler worthy of the position, Garlic wanted to rule the world for his own evil ambitions.
- After the Guardian discovers his true intentions, Garlic leads an army of demons to kill him and usurp his position by force.
- He stole the sacred water of the Lookout and turned it into the Black Water Mist, a substance that turns the beings on whom it is poured into feral demons without any freedom, being its effects irreversible after 24 hours, and wanted to use it with all the species of the world.
- After being sealed in a black crystal, he warns his son, Garlic Jr. to avenge him and fulfill his will, being indirectly responsible for his actions.
- Due to his son was closer to fulfill his goals of taking over the lookout and using the Black Water Mist to brainwash all the species of the Earth, none of his crimes relies on Fridge Horror.
- His fate doesn't make him tragic in any way, as he brought his own misery upon himself, and instead of learning from his mistakes, Garlic chose to move on from them.
- It is ultimately unknown if he truly cared for his son. Knowing that he only sends him to fulfill his failed objectives indicates that he may only see him as a pawn.
Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]
- While he clearly passes the baseline and his crimes are unique in the Dragon Ball universe, Garlic fails the heinous standards to his own son, who briefly managed to achieve his goals while Garlic did not get that far having similar resources. In addition, Garlic Jr. used the Dragon Balls to gain immortality and has a higher kill count.
- He doesn't have much characterization, because he only appears in a brief flashback and has no dialogue. However, since is known his purpose of turning the Earth into a dark and bloody place and his lack of honor and respect towards his former master, this is a minor prevention.
