ā | I sell purpose. These people got nothing. Maybe they lost a job or a house or a kid to oxy. Politicians don't give a shit, mainstream media tells them to be ashamed of their skin color so, well, I bring 'em together, tell them a story, give them a purpose. Which would you rather believe? That you belong to a community of warriors battling a secret evil, or that you're a lonely, inconsequential nobody that no one will ever remember? | ā |
~ Firecracker |
Misty Tucker Gray, better known as Firecracker, is a major antagonist of Season 4 of the 2019 Amazon TV adaptation of the comic book series The Boys. She is the arch-nemesis of Starlight, stemming a hatred for her during their childhood. She becomes a new member of The Seven who is loyal to Homelander and seeks to defame Starlight.
She is portrayed by Valorie Curry.
Her Evil Ranking[]
Her Villainous Deeds[]
- Though it is understandable she hated the rumor that Starlight spread when they were teenagers, Firecracker's response was too extreme and petty. Not only is her response far out of proportion to what Starlight did, but she also refused to accept that Starlight had changed from then.
- At one point before joining the Seven, she had sexual relations with a 15-year-old, despite being a 28-year-old herself. After this was exposed to the public, she had Vought cover it up.
- To make matters worse, she seem to not care about that particular event and expresses no remorse towards the action. When Butcher threaten to post about the crime to Twitter, she did it for him much to his surprise.
- She regularly promotes alt-right conspiracies on her podcast and uses them to manipulate her cult-like following. However, the show implies that Firecracker does not believe in those talking points but is actually a political grifter.
- She's shown to be a bigot, making numerous racist, homophobic, and xenophobic remarks:
- She referred to Sister Sage as "one of the good ones" (referring to black people).
- She also told Sister Sage that she was "a little mouthy" and "uppity", which has racial undertones.
- On her podcast, she makes several comments accusing homosexuals and the transgender community of "attacking" and "mutilating" children, which are classic alt-right dog whistles.
- When fighting Kimiko, she referred to her as Chinese in a derogatory manner (when in actuality she's Japanese).
- When Butcher used British slang, she told him to "speak American".
- She called Frenchie a "surrender monkey", which is a derogatory term for French people.
- She joins The Seven and shows a willingness to help them, mainly Homelander and Sister Sage, with all of their evil plans.
- She revealed that in Starlightās first save she blinded a hostage a mother of three fully knowing that she didnāt have full control of her powers yet, but she took the opportunity to show starlight in a bad light. She also revealed Starlightās abortion on live television to rile her up and trick her into attacking her on camera, in order to ruin her reputation and slander her on television. She even called her a ābaby killerā
- Per Homelander's orders, she and the Seven beat Cameron Coleman to death.
- Murdered a worker of Vought International by repeatedly shooting him to death under Homelanderās orders.
Why Doesn't She Stand Out?[]
- Her statutory rape of a 15-year-old boy, while bad enough to meet the general baseline, is not enough to pass the heinous standards of the Boys as villains like Tek Knight and the Shapeshifter have far more horrifying sex crimes.
- She is largely played for laughs due to being a stereotypical redneck who comes up with absurd conspiracy theories. In addition, she is a parody of American right-wingers and the alt-right.
- She has minor standards as she was horrified when Homelander ripped Webweaver in half.
- She is shown to have a genuine friendship with Splinter despite not returning his romantic feelings for her and was saddened when he died.
