Erich Mielke is a major character in the Hearts of Iron IV mod Thousand Week Reich. He is one of the potential leaders for the council's people's Germany path and is the leader of the national communist party.

• He seizes control in Germany and would conduct mass purges, firing multiple people from their jobs and replacing them, its implied he would murder many of his opponents.
• He gains emergency powers and would abuse it to force his policies.
• Turns Germany into a police state with mass oppression.
• He declares a permanent state of emergency, making himself the new dictator of Germany.

Why Doesn't He Stand Out?

• Despite his oppressive policies, he seems to be an extremist who genuinely wants to get rid of Nazism, furthermore he actually has standards against their actions, especially towards their genocide.
• Most of his acts consist of vague "oppressive" policies and purges, and rely too much on implications as its never stated that he had ordered executions or murdered his enemies.
• He fails the overall standards of the series, given that oppressive dictators are common in Thousand Week Reich, a notable example of ones would be the reichkomissarate's leaders who with less resources enforce mass slavery and genocide.
