Enji Todoroki, or better known by his superhero name "Endeavor", is a major protagonist from the manga/anime series, My Hero Academia. He is the father of Shoto Todoroki and was the 2nd highest ranked superhero, before eventually becoming the 1st. He serves as the main antagonist of the U.A. Sports Festival Arc and the main protagonist of the Pro Hero Arc.
Endeavor is a hero that had one objective on his mind; to surpass All Might and claim his rank as the 1st ranked superhero of Japan. However, because of All Might's popularity, Endeavor feared that he would not get so far in his career. In order to continue his legacy, Endeavor arranged a marriage with a woman known as Rei Himura, the daughter of the Himura household. She had an ice Quirk, which was essential to Endeavor's goal and produced offspring with her, until his wife was able to give birth to the perfect child; Shoto Todoroki.
Ever since All Might's retirement from being a superhero, Endeavor was now on his way to becoming the 1st ranked superhero, much to his anger. However, after finding peace with himself and coming to respect All Might once more, Endeavor fully accepted his position and aimed to become society's new Symbol of Peace.
He is voiced by Tetsu Inada in Japanese and Patrick Seitz in English.

His Villainous Deeds[]
- Harshly abused his wife Rei to the point she went insane and threw scalding tea at the young Shoto, giving him a permanent eye scar, which is an act of domestic violence.
- Emotionally neglected his other children due to his belief of them being "failures". This has badly affected his oldest son, Toya, who desperately wanted his love, care and attention, and ended up becoming a supervillain due to not being able to get that from him.
- He has also commited child abuse since he harshly trained his son Shoto and had refused to give him any breaks nor the opportunity to speak to his siblings.
Why Doesn't He Stand Out?[]
- While the scope of his domestic abuse is enough to pass the baseline, he fails the high Heinous Standard of My Hero Academia to his own son Dabi, who has the same resources and power that Endeavor has but killed over 30 people, caused the collapse of Hero Society and orchestrated a suicide bombing that would kill hundreds to thousands of innocent civilians, including his own family. He also fails to many villains with little to no resources at all, such as Overhaul, Muscular, Daruma Ujiko, Number 6 and Stain (who fails the standard himself, albeit to a lesser degree due to passing the baseline).
- He is somewhat tragic, as he has been disowned by his second son, Natsuo Todoroki, and the reason that he had fell into his villainous mindset because of watching his father fail to save a girl with both dying in vain.
- Even if he did use extreme methods to do so, he has genuinely always aspired to be a hero and a Symbol of Peace for the world ever since he saw his father die by a villain when he was a kid, making him a well-intentioned extremist and anti-villain/villain by proxy who is in the Grey Zone.
- He always had some care for his family. He is implied to have always been genuinely in love with Rei to some extent, stopped Toya's training out of fear he could get burnt or even die, and was extremely saddened by Toya's disappearance and apparent death.
- He redeemed himself after reflecting on his actions despite not being put in prison for his crimes, as he was wishing to make up for all the horrible things he had done to his family, and was more than willing to visit the hospital every day so he could see the hospitalized and dying Toya.
Trivia[]
- There are some implications that he possibly committed marital rape against his wife. If this is confirmed, he could become Inconsistently Heinous due to how unique the crime would be for the series.
