Dr. Scum is a major antagonist in Dav Pilkey's Dog Man book series.

His Villainous Deeds[]

  • He aided verily in the Mayor's plot to fire and take over Chief Clarence Bailey's position and use it so that the COPS would not stop them in getting rich by selling illegal items.
  • He creates an army of Burgle Balls that terrorize the city and rob countless stores of their best possessions.
  • After finding out the Burgle Balls were defeated, he gets inside the cockpit of the Colossal-Bot 2000 and fights Petey.
  • He kidnaps Dog Man, Li'l Petey, Chief, Sarah, and 80-HD using his Colossal-Bot 2000.
  • He convinces Buster the police officer to let him go back to his lab "to use the bathroom" when he instead brought out a robot replica of him to go to jail in his place.
  • He sends one of his robot replicas to break in a shop and steal countless robot parts.
  • He blackmails Petey into joining him to create more AI robotic replicas of civilians.
  • He creates a world-wide AI Buddy population, who attempt to kidnap and take over all of humanity.

Why Doesn't He Stand Out?[]

  • Although he does manage to pass the baseline due to creating an AI Buddy population that almost endangers all of humanity, he ultimately fails the heinous standard to Piggy and Grampa, who both due countless more villainous deeds than him with severely less resources. Even his personal villainy towards Petey isn't enough as both aforementioned villains (especially Grampa) are more personal.
  • Due to being part of the Dog Man novel series, which rarely takes things seriously, he is too comedic for Pure Evil or Near Pure Evil, with his whole character basically being one big joke due to his long absences within his appearances, causing everyone to not know who he is in the slightest.
  • He was genuinely shocked at the AI Buddies when they were joining together to endanger all of humanity, showing he has standards.
  • He is somewhat honorable as he was willing to get Dog Man out of jail.
  • He seems to care for or at least get along with the mayor.

Trivia[]

  • In a dream Chief has in the tenth book, Mothering Heights, Dr. Scum kidnaps Dog Man and another cop named Milly and tortures them with a robotic shark-duck hybrid. Had this been outside of a dream, it would've made him even worse.
  • In Big Jim Begins, Dr. Scum is shown to be an inmate and a bully within Baby Jail during a flashback. However, he never was really there and it was simply a game that multiple children thought of. Due to this, it can be presumed he was a bully even within his young years, though this has yet to be confirmed.
