Donovan is a minor antagonist in the 1988 dark fantasy anime and manga titled Berserk, he is a pedophile who worked for the mercenary Gambino who agreed to let him rape Guts, which lead to the consequence of Guts killing him in the end.

His Villainous Deeds[]
- He helps Gambino with his war crimes so he could get as much money from the war as possible.
- He beat and raped Guts as a 9 year old child which made him lose his innocence entirely making his death well-deserved.
- Donovan claimed things like this happen in the army all the time as he raped Guts, implying Guts was not his first victim.
- He is a completely irredeemable Hate Sink, who is more hated than Pure Evil characters such as God Hand and Apostles in the story as they all at some point in their lives had a redeeming quality while Donovan never had any.
Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]
- The heinous standard of Berserk is extremely high for even a pedophile rapist to stand out on as other sadistic murderous rapists cross much more boundaries worse than what he did, although his resources in comparison to the majority of the villains are more limited, he hasn't done enough villainous deeds to boost his chances in a higher villain criteria even if he does pass the baseline of raping Guts as a child and scarring him for life. Examples of Pure Evil rapists stooping lower than Donovan are:
- Wyald raping and violently murdering villagers as he pleases while leading the Black Dog Knights.
- Femto betraying his comrades into a sacrificial massacre, and having the only two survivors get a fate worse than death, with him raping Casca a woman who he saved from rape, and did it in front of Guts out of petty spite, Casca's lover, which corrupted their conceived child in the process, which mentally broke Casca for years and made Guts beyond bitter and miserable in the situation, with the two being cursed on a brand that makes them targeted and haunted by demons for the rest of their lives.
- Emperor Ganishka sending the soldiers of the Kushan Empire to rape and impregnate women which lead to them dying painful deaths whilst turning their unborn babies into demon children that burst out of their mother's wombs.
- To characters who are lesser, comparable or somewhat comparable to his resources of heinousness:
- Gambino, for selling out his adoptive son to be raped by Donovan and showcasing more tyrannical mass murderous acts.
- The King of Midland who tortured Pre-Pure Evil Griffith horribly, employed Wyald and attempted to rape his daughter.
- The Torturer's harsh torturous methods on Griffith that he did for over a year.
- Lord Gennon of Tudor who had been repeatedly raping over dozens of children.
