“ | Yes. Mighty Steppenwolf, who might have sat here by the side of the great one. But undone by his self-pride. | „ |
~ DeSaad reminding Steppenwolf of his failure. |
DeSaad is the secondary antagonist of the 2021 DC Extended Universe film Zack Snyder's Justice League. He is the chief scientist and specialized torturer of Apokolips who serves as one of Darkseid's most loyal followers and advisors, acting as his right-hand man and majordomo.
He is also the leader of the Apokoliptian Priests, having taken part in the war between Apokolips and Earth's forces. Since then, he has assisted Darkseid's uncle and former general, Steppenwolf, guiding him on finding the Mother Boxes.
He was portrayed by Peter Guinness.
His Evil Rankings[]
His Villainous Deeds[]
- He aids his master Darkseid in his conquest of hundreds of thousands of innocent planets and transforming their inhabitants into the parademons, which is also a fate worse than death, due to being alive but lacking soul of freedom.
- He constantly insults and humiliates Steppenwolf for betraying and failing Darkseid.
- He (apparently) shows no remorse for his crimes and continued helping Darkseid with the conquest of the Earth, while succeeding in this scheme in the Knightmare timeline.
- He never shows any significant redeeming qualities.
Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]
- He fails the heinous standards to Darkseid and Steppenwolf, because only follows the orders of Darkseid, while acting as his second-in-command and thus having compatible resources. But even in comparison to the Steppenwolf, who is lower than him in rank, he fails the heinous standards to him, while having arguably bigger resources than the general. Also, he fails the heinous standards even to such villains like General Zod, who had smaller legions and resources than him, and even to human villains like Lex Luthor, who committed much worse crimes than him with much smaller resources.
- He is truly loyal to Darkseid.
- He possibly can have some standards against unnecessary violence, because even he was possibly disgusted by Steppenwolf's actions. However, this prevention likely doesn't holds up, because it's left to interpretation.
