David, mostly known as Dave, is the main antagonist of the We Bare Bears episode "The Island".

Initially introduced as just a man who got stranded on an unhabituated island, Dave is revealed to have developed an obsession towards Karla, a woman who also got stranded, and he’s willing to leave both her and himself stranded forever.

Dave was voiced by Jake Johnson.

While being stranded on a desert island for years could be seen as tragic, Dave perceived his situation as a chance to make Karla his “wife and muse”.
Aside from his unforgiving relationship with Karla, Dave is also a troublemaker even in his own affability, as he insulted the bears without valid reasons. He was not even thankful of Ice Bear assisting him in acquiring coconuts.
He hid the survival kit/emergency supplies in the jungle after finding it from the wilderness inside a crashed helicopter, only planning to reveal it to Karla after she fell in love with him out of sheer arrogance.
He made advances on/sexually harassed Karla at least twice.
He caused Karla to be pessimistic in escaping the island due to hiding supplies and his inflatable raft, meaning that he psychologically abused her.
His love for Karla is just an obsession/possessiveness rather than genuine romantic feelings towards her, as he wants to keep her on the island for his own selfish needs, not caring that she wants to return home to her sisters.
After the the three bears found the inflatable raft that he hid, he tried to stole it from them and thrown the bears to the quicksand when they tried to take it back, leaving them to sink to their death.
Upon Panda revealing the truth behind Dave's journal to Karla to expose him, he gets enraged and attempted to attack him.
After being exposed, he grabbed and attempted to hold Ice Bear hostage to get Karla to remain with him while the latter two, Grizz and Panda escape from the island.
While remaining alone in the Island and likely dying is horrifying, he completely deserved it for his actions and it is not played for any sympathy at all.
While he does have comedic moments, they're mostly before his reveal and he's taken seriously in-universe.
He is overall one of the most detestable and arguably dark villains in the series.

Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]

While he passes the baseline due to his willingness to keep Karla on the island even if it would result in her death and psychologically harming her, along with nearly killing the Bears when they were just children, Dave still fails the heinous standards to other and more heinous villains, such as Agent Trout, Ralph, Norm and Norm's Boss.
