Daud, also known as The Knife of Dunwall, is one of the main characters of the Dishonored series.
Daud is the leader of the assassin group The Whalers and is responsible for the death of Empress Jessamine Kaldwin. By killing her, he set in motion the events of the game. Like the game's protagonist, Daud is one of the Outsider's chosen and possesses magical powers. However, Daud regrets his role in killing the Empress and plunging the Empire into chaos and - while the former Royal Protector Corvo Attano sets out to avenge Jessamine and to free her daughter Emily - Daud redeems himself by saving Emily from the influence of the evil witch Delilah.
He is voiced by Michael Madsen
His Evil Ranking[]
His Villainous Deeds[]
Why Doesn't He Stand Out?[]
- To say he fails the heinous standard would be a understatement, as with his resources of whalers being way more skilled than people such as hatters, Howlers, Eyeless, and Dead Eels, he never uses it to kill innocent people and most of these gangs start brutal gang wars that kill innocents and gangsters alike. His assassinations rely on offscreen villainy and/or fridge horror, and his murder of the Empress was merely done on the orders of Hiram Burrows, he also doesn’t know that Hiram started the rat plaque so he isn’t a big accessory to him becoming the new leader and ruining the population, making him fail even more.
- He is genuinely tragic, having an extreme amount of intelligence and fighting skills, he was kidnapped in a school yard by a random man, after escaping, he received the mark of the outsider and started making his own gang and committing assassinations as that's all he knew how to do.
- Bare minimum, he is affable to the whalers and cares about them as he mentored them when they were stuck on the streets, treats them as sons, and honors his deals.
- He is heavily remorseful for killing Jessamine Kaldwin, later wondering how he even accepted to help Burrows and he believes him to be an insanely vile elitist.
- He is on-off, doing several heroic acts for non-pragmatic reasons
- Teaching children how to survive in the isles
- Saving and protecting Emily Kaldwin
- Saving the Whalers from being killed by the overseers
- Killing Delilah and stopping Emily from being possesed
- Helping "The Geezer" with murdering the actual leader of the hatters, Nurse Trimble.
- Ending the outsiders suffering by killing him, also stopping anyone from getting powers from the void and using it for their personal gain.
- He redeems himself at the end, not wishing to kill anyone but doing it if necessary.
