You shouldn't leave important devices like these lying around. They could fall into the... wrong...
~ Daniel Kon to Kash D. Langford, also his face reveal.
With Mantah Corp's new tech, you won't just watch the show; you are the show!
~ Daniel Kon to all of Mantah Corp's investors.

Daniel Kon is the main antagonist of the Netflix animated series Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous and a minor character in Season 1 of its sequel show, Chaos Theory.

He is the President of Mantah Corp, the arch-nemesis of Sammy Gutierrez, the former arch-nemesis of Darius Bowman and the estranged father and the former arch-nemesis of Kenji Kon, the deuteragonist of the show due to being one of the Nublar Six. A businessman who experiments with dinosaurs captured from Isla Nublar and Isla Sorna to his corporation's private island, Daniel profits from the prehistorical beasts by pitting them in fights for his shady investors, including Biosyn CEO Lewis Dodgson, to watch and buy, but his everyday plans are suddenly derailed upon discovering that his son and his friends have made it to his headquarters.

He was voiced by Andrew Kishino.

His Evil Ranking[]

His Villainous Deeds[]

In General[]

  • For starters, Daniel was a distant and neglectful father to his son Kenji, always being at work and caring for one single thing throughout his career: protecting his name and reputation. No mention is made of Daniel's wife and Kenji's mother, but it doesn't seem like she is part of the lives of both father and son anymore. It is possible she may be deceased.
  • Shows no genuine care for his men. Even though he was horrified when Hawkes was devoured, Daniel felt no sadness over his demise and was more concerned for his own life.
  • Unlike Kash and some other Jurassic Park villains, Daniel is never played for laughs even once and is taken seriously throughout all his appearances.

In the Past[]

  • Took over Mantah Corp and gains a private island to establish his corporation there to illegally make fights against the dinosaurs his men capture from Isla Sorna and Isla Nublar for his black market investors to buy. To achieve this, Daniel hired Kash D. Langford to create mental control chips that could brainwash dinosaurs against their wills so they could fight to the death.
  • Orders Kash to blackmail the Gutierrez family into sending their daughter Sammy to the Jurassic World theme park of Isla Nublar to steal dinosaur samples under the threat of taking away their ranch, resulting Sammy going despite her family's refusal and then be left stranded there with five teens she befriended, Kenji included, at the mercy of the fearsome Indominus rex and other dinosaurs.
    • What's worse is that Kenji and Sammy sent out with their friends a distress signal to the outside world to be rescued, but Mantah Corp and by extension Daniel did nothing to retrieve the Nublar Six from the island and bring them back home.
  • During the whole time Kenji and the other campers were stuck on Isla Nublar, Daniel, who having relatively the most resources compared to the other campers' families, made no effort or had any intention to search for his son, which apparently proves Kenji means nothing to him.

Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous[]

  • Orders Kash to organize the Mantah Corp Island so it can be ready for when his latest investors visit it for a new dinosaur fight presentation.
  • Sets a trap for the Nublar Six once they delay the presentation by meeting up with Kash and his BRAD-Xs and using a dinosaur named Pierce as bait, only relenting upon finding out that his son is one of the six captured teens.
  • Lies to Kenji about having been the head of Mantah Corp just for a short period so Kenji will not realize that he is a traitor to Simon Masrani, the owner of Jurassic World or that he is behind the situation of Sammy Gutierrez's family.
  • Forces Dr. Turner to work for him, against her will. He threatened the lives of the Nublar Six to get her to cooperate.
  • Hid his true nature from the campers by putting on a good guy facade.
  • When Brooklynn, Ben and Darius decided to spy on him, Daniel sends raptors, drones and Little Eatie to stalk them and endangered their lives. He then told Kenji, who was eagerly waiting for his girlfriend, that Brooklynn was seeing Ben and Darius behind his back, in order to drive a wedge in their relationship.
  • Imprisons Kash for his actions against the Nublar Six and his attempts to kill everyone, but rather than because targeting his son and his friends was wrong, Daniel imprisons Kash for turning on him and delaying the presentation by losing his time trying to kill people instead of preparing everything.
    • Though he later frees Kash, Daniel just lets him leave his cell so he can help Dr. Mae Turner in finishing the mental control chips for the dinosaurs he would show to his investors. He then allows Kash to go after firing him, even though he should have alerted the authorities instead. Most likely, his decision to let Kash go, was a pragmatic one, since he was too busy dealing with his investors and had no means to quickly and discreetly kill his treacherous employee at that time.
  • When his investors tried to kill Kenji's friends, Daniel did nothing to stop them.
  • Slowly manipulates Kenji to turn him against his friends, especially after they get two investors and Kash (though they did deserve it) killed accidentally, with Daniel being nearly claimed by the dinosaurs.
  • Imprisons Kenji's friends in a cell, and while he does supply them with food and water plus still intended to take them back to their homes, this was only to not make Kenji turn against him, as hurting them would make Kenji realize his true nature.
  • Meets with Lewis Dodgson at Isla Nublar to discuss his technology to sell it to Biosyn. He also agrees to catch several dinosaurs for Dodgson, solely for profit.
  • Captures Bumpy, one of the Nublar dinosaurs that Kenji had befriended, in spite of Kenji pleading with him to leave Bumpy alone, with this act being the last evidence for Kenji to realize that Daniel only cares for him as long as he does something that helps Mantah Corp gain profits.
  • When Dr. Turner escapes, he let her go, only because Kenji convinced him that she was no longer needed and leaving her to be killed by dinosaurs on Isla Nublar would be a better option.
  • Captures and brainwashes several dinosaurs of Isla Nublar, including Toro, Bumpy and Limbo.
  • Hires Hawkes and his mercenaries as his bodyguards and hunters, and later sends them after the Nublar Six once they change the password of Mantah Corp Island and refuse to hand it over back to him, only asking the men to spare his son to allow him to "come back to his senses".
  • Emotionally abuses Sammy to get her to give up the password for Biosyn by revealing that he was the one who sent Kash and manipulating her good heart, to no avail.
  • Takes control of the dinosaurs with Kash's technology, overpowering the dinosaurs with no control chips, leading to his dinosaurs almost killing Big Eatie, one of the dinosaurs fighting for the Nublar Six, ultimately letting Big Eatie live so he can force the teens into surrendering.
  • Corners Darius Bowman with a mind-controlled Spinosaurus. Even after Kenji relents and gives him the password, he breaks his promise to his son and tries to have Darius devoured to tie up “loose ends” before Big Eatie defeats the beast. His attempt to murder Darius for witnessing his crimes, implies that he never intended to spare Kenji's friends, even before his son discovered his true nature.
  • Flees Mantah Corp Island upon being tricked by the Nublar Six into believing that the island will explode, even leaving Kenji behind to his possible death once Kenji refuses to come with him and instead chooses to stay with his "real family", allowing Mae to report Daniel and have him arrested for his crimes.

Jurassic World: Chaos Theory[]

  • Years later, when Brooklyn visited him during her investigation into dinosaur trafficking activities, he denied having any involvement and claimed that he was no longer interested in committing crimes, but, for the sake of personal benefit, decided to get involved and gave her money for illegal purchasing of dinosaurs.
  • When Kenji and Darius visited him and asked about what Brooklyn had privately talked with him about, Daniel was initially unwilling to answer, unless his son agreed to become a figurehead for a new business he had been working on, upsetting Kenji. He relented only when Kenji decided to leave him for good.

Why Doesn't He Stand Out?[]

  • He ultimately fails the Heinous Standards to Lewis Dodgson, Kash D. Langford, Eli Mills, Sonya Santos and the Atrocipator Handler who all have similar or lower resources but committed much worse actions, wtih Dodgson almost systematically starving the world, Kash brainwashing dinosaurs and being willing to use to them for domination and killing anyone who opposes him and Mills, Santos and the Atrociraptor Handler being murderers. However, he still passes the baseline standard due to his sheer cruelty and personal villainy towards Kenji and Sammy.
  • Despite neglecting him and his love initially appearing to be conditional, Daniel does genuinely care for Kenji to some extent. When believing the island would self-destruct, he desperately tells him to get into the plane for safety and when Kenji refuses, calling the Nublar Six his “real family”, Daniel genuinely looks hurt and sorrowful before reluctantly leaving Kenji behind. He also ordered his allies not to harm him and tried to save him from the rock slide on Nublar.
  • He is too remorseful for NPE. In Chaos Theory, Daniel realizes how much his son means to him, telling Brooklynn that Kenji is "all [he] has left in this world" while wishing that his son would visit him and tries to reconnect with Kenji despite knowing his son hates him and ultimately sacrifices his life to save him from the Atrociraptors. Additionally, he retired from committing crimes and was affected when Brooklynn called him out for trying to kill Kenji and genuinely seemed to show some level of regret for his actions when he heard Kenji didn’t plan to visit him, also being genuinely saddened when his actions nearly push Kenji to leave him behind for good.
  • His death is played heavily for sympathy, with Kenji deeply mourning his demise and even Darius feeling sympathy for Kenji losing him.
