DJ Spit is a supporting antagonist in the adult animated series Smiling Friends. He is a short-tempered critter, an aspiring Soundcloud rapper, and a criminal.

He is voiced by series co-creator Zach Hadel.

• He originally planned to assault or murder Grim & Gnarly after they insulted his music.
• He pulled a gun on Pim and Charlie after assuming that they were trying to mess with his head.
• He did the same again while possessing the body of Mr. Man.
• He planned to spread the nihilistic philosophy of the Frowning Friends.
• He conspires with Mr. Landlord to sabotage Allan's quest for paperclips for money. He does so by stealing his box and taking off in a helicopter.
  • This leads him to accidentally kill a flock of birds with his helicopter blades, as well as cause a reckless battle with the U.S. military after intruding in forbidden airspace in which he shoots at them with a machine gun, endangering Allan and everyone else involved. This eventually causes the helicopter to be hit with a missile and crash in a forest.

Why He Doesn't Stand Out?

• He fails the heinous standard compared to other notable Smiling Friends villains, such as Mr. Frog, Oscar, and his former employer, Mr. Landlord.
• He is affable and friendly in general, as he casually explained his circumstances to Pim and Charlie about wanting to become a successful musician.
• He is portrayed with some sympathy, as he is a downtrodden aspiring Soundcloud rapper who lives in a dysfunctional neighborhood and was taken advantage of by the Frowning Friends.
  • He also appears to suffer from mental issues or drug abuse, causing him to be extremely paranoid and engage in reckless, violent behavior. For example, he only pulled a gun on Pim and Charlie because he believed they were exploiting him, not for explicitly malicious reasons. It can also be assumed he never fired on them.
• After the Frowning Friends reveal their hypocrisy, DJ Spit becomes angry and notes that they weren't committed to their nihilistic philosophy, and also seems to reject the idea that life is meaningless. Afterwards, he abandons the Frowning Friends' ideology.
• While extremely reckless and callous, he conspires with Mr. Landlord most likely for money as opposed to explicit malice. This is somewhat understandable given his circumstances.
• He was killed in the helicopter crash after being impaled by one of its blades, which is a brutal way for him to go out, and also indicates that he was an expendable pawn in Mr. Landlord's plan.
• The consequences and severity of his actions are heavily diminished by the comical and absurd tone of the show, and he is primarily played for laughs.

Trivia

• His design originally included visible pubic hair, but Adult Swim had it removed in the official airing.
• Near the end of his song, "$pitz PaRadise", a faint "Wehehe" can be heard. This is a reference to how Stan, Kyle and Kenny laugh in "Loud Junk", a South Park parody from early Newgrounds.
• While Mr. Man is briefly seen transforming into DJ Spit while echoing his "get out of mi head" breakdown, it is unclear if there is a connection between these two or if this is simply a one-off gag.
