Chloé Bourgeois is a major character in the Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir franchise. Once an anti-heroine, Chloé betrays Ladybug by revealing her secret identity, thus becoming a full-time villain and shedding most of her redeemable qualities.
She is voiced by Marie Chevalot in French, with Selah Victor playing her in the English dub.
Her Evil Ranking[]
Her Villainous Deeds[]
- Although it was revealed that she had a backstory of being abandoned and neglected by her mother Audrey, and having a lack of healthy parenting that turned her into a spoiled brat, Chloé is clearly over it and otherwise does not make her tragic and sympathetic due to her actions along with the fact they have nothing to do with what happened to her.
- Also added is the fact that she is completely responsible for her actions because she was only driven and motivated by her own selfishness, refusing to change even though she has been given several opportunities to do so and openly embracing her villainy.
- Although she had comedic moments, she gets rid of them in later seasons along with almost all of her redeeming qualities, making her even more hated.
- In the past, she orchestrated a cruel prank for Kim to pull on Marinette, the latter of whom had a crush on at the time. This prank would later give Marinette trauma of asking someone out on a date and is why she keeps Adrien's full schedule and goes out of her way to know various other things about him.
- Chloé misuses her power as the mayor's daughter to get whatever she wants.
- She locked Juleka in the bathroom for her to be akumatized, something that Chloé does on a regular basis.
- For the sole purpose of boasting, Chloé used her venom to disable the train driver. This action inadvertently nearly gets several people killed in the process.
- Even as a superhero and during Season 3 before the events of the same season's finale, she still acted rude and arrogant towards people to the point that Aurore Beauréal was akumatized into Stormy Weather, who almost caused the world to sink in an eternal winter and will almost kill everyone.
- Even after Ladybug and Cat Noir defeat Stormy Weather, Chloe is never seen apologizing to Aurore.
- In the season 3 finale, Chloé exposed the secret identities of all the superheroes save for Ladybug and Cat Noir after siding with Hawk Moth.
- After discarding most of her rectifiable actions, Chloé ended up becoming a far worse bully.
- She attempted to have her half-sister Zoé be akumatized. To do this, she attempted to make her a bully by preying upon her insecurities and even goes too far while Zoé was akumatized into Sole Crusher, pushing Marinette into Sole Crusher's hand (although Sole Crusher spares her because she remembers her kindness towards her), and attempts to manipulate her into attacking Kitty Section.
- In one of her easily cruel moments, Chloé threatens Sole Crusher by sending her back to New York, and than tells her that she maybe big now, but she is still just a ridiculous copy of herself and yells her catchphrase "utterly ridiculous", while showing no care or remorse that she deeply hurt her sister's feelings, but was stopped when Marinette knowing that she has gone too far ends up intervening and attempts to reason with Sole Crusher.
- She threatened her half-sister Zoé that she would turn all of Paris into a banana in the Season 4 episode "Queen Banana."
- In "Penalteam," she willingly gets akumatized and puts many people in danger, including a pregnant woman.
- In "Deflagration," she willing gets akumatized once more into Sole Destroyer and uses her powers to transform people into shoes that sing her praises.
- She takes over Paris at the end of "Collusion" after her father retires as the mayor of Paris. In the very next episode, she is very much shown to be a complete dictator, abusing the powers she got when she conspired with Monarch by sentencing anyone she doesn't like into "detention" and outlawing those with superpowers, including Ladybug, Cat Noir and Monarch himself. She denies any democratic elections and intends to stay in power before the Resistance intervenes and saves the trapped Ladybug and Cat Noir. When she completely loses all of her power and is sent by André to leave for New York with her mother, her last action is to reveal to Marinette that Adrien is leaving Paris to go to London out of spite, not knowing she already knew.
- Although she suffers a defeat by crying when she hits rock bottom and with everyone in Paris despising her, it is played more for satisfaction due to her cruelty and actions and it is not played for sympathy.
- It is unclear whether her crying at the end during her defeat is for genuine remorse for all her actions or solely for pity for herself.
- Although she formed an alliance with Lila Rossi and seemed to respect her for her scheming nature and proclaim her as her "new best friend," it was only out of pragmatism to fulfill her goals and not a genuine friendship. Although Lila uniting forces with her was also very pragmatic of her.
- Her actions caused Miraculous Ladybug's most forgiving and understanding characters such as Marinette, Adrien, and Caline to give up hope on her and trying to make her a better person.
Why Doesn't She Stand Out?[]
- To say Chloé fails Miraculous Ladybug's high Heinous Standards would be an understatement, given how most of the worst villains are omnicidal maniacs, to the point that the difference in resources doesn’t matter. Most of her crimes are not unique to Miraculous Ladybug as several other villains in the series have either brainwashed everyone or tried to wipe out all of Paris and her brainwashing is not shown to have any form of mental harm or damage, being standard for brainwashing.
- She does hold her mother to high regards and shows more care to her than anyone else. She even risks putting her life in danger so that her mother would be proud of her.
Trivia[]
- She used to be Near Pure Evil but was removed and approved to Villainous Benchmark due to failing the heinous standard. She also used to be Inconsistently Admirable but was removed and approved to Heroic Benchmark due to failing the admirable standard to Alya/Rena Rouge and Luka/Viperion.
- She is the sole Miraculous Ladybug character to be both a Heroic and Villainous Benchmark character, making her the only Miraculous Ladybug character to be both a hero and a villain.
