ā€œ Clayton: What's going on here!?
Tarzan: Clayton! Clayton, help!
Clayton: Have we met? Ah yes, the ape-man.
Tarzan: Clayton...you... you!
Clayton: I'm so sorry about the rude welcome, old boy. But I couldn't have you making a scene when we put your "furry friends" in their cages.
Tarzan: Why?
Clayton: Why? For 300 pounds sterling a head! Actually, I have you to thank, my boy. Couldn't have done it without you. Lock him up with the others.

Clayton is the main antagonist of Disney's thirty-seventh full-length animated feature film Tarzan, which is based on the 1912 American novel Tarzan of the Apes by the late Edgar Rice Burroughs.

He is a greedy poacher who seeks to hunt the gorillas down, capture them, and sell them for money to become rich by any means necessary. He is Tarzan's former friend-turned-arch-nemesis, the former "bodyguard" of Archimedes Q. Porter and Jane Porter, and the killer of Kerchak.

He was voiced by Brian Blessed.

His Evil Ranking[]

His Villainous Deeds[]

  • He manipulated Tarzan into showing them where the gorilla pack lives by saying Jane would stay in Africa with him if he did so.
    • This act also makes him indirectly responsible for Tarzan's exile from the gorilla pack.
  • After revealing his true colors to Tarzan, Jane, and Archimedes Q. Porter, he has his men imprison them in his ship.
  • He proceeds to capture the gorillas with the intent of selling them to become rich.
  • He is Indirectly responsible for the death of Dennis as he is last seen alive being chased by the Baboons showing that Clayton does not care about his men
  • When Kerchak attacks him to save Tarzan, he shoots and kills him.
  • He proceeds to try to kill Tarzan so that he would not interfere with his plans.
  • When Tarzan spares his life, he rejects his chance of redemption and chases the former with his machete, leading to his death.

Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]

  • While his actions of animal cruelty pass the general baseline and doesn't fail to Sabor, his crimes fail to stand out beyond this as capturing wildlife wasn't considered poaching at the time the movie took place and didn't realize the gorillas are sentient, causing Clayton to fail the heinous standards due to the Tarzan TV series raising the heinous standard with the addition of villains such as Queen La.
  • He is hinted to care for his sister Lady Waltham, as he was on good terms with her to the point where she wanted to avenge him after learning about his death.
