| “ | Two-Face: The Joker chose ME! Batman: Because you were the best of us! He wanted to prove that even someone as good as you could fall. Two-Face: And he was right. |

| “ | I have made a terrible mistake. I was hurt. I was so hurt. And... I thought I could get rid of the hurt. I thought that I knew better, that I could make the world a better place. But I was wrong. That hurt, um, took me down a dark, dark path, where I was blind to what I was really doing, to what I'd become. | „ |

Fallen Heroes (or Heroes turned to the Dark Side) are villains who used to be heroes but are currently evil.
These kind of former heroes had either turned evil by their own choice, or another villain corrupted them by force.
These kind of villains are the opposite of Redeemed Heroic Benchmarks and Redeemed Villains, although they can be all three at the same time, especially if they realize horrible acts they've done or in some cases in order to save a loved one.
Notes[]
Please note that a character must be a hero before turning evil.
- Morally neutral characters (a la "average joes") or characters initially uninvolved with any side of the conflict do not count (e.g. Obadiah Stane, Richie Kirsch). They should go under From Nobody to Nightmare and/or Debased instead.
- False heroes: if they never were good, they do not count either (e.g. Telaknight). They should go under Faux Affably Evil, Liars, Cheaters, Tricksters, Hypocrites, Hidden Villainous Benchmarks, Delusional, Traitors, Master Manipulators, Con Artists, Spies and/or Contradictory However, some false heroes in the present story can still have been true heroes prior to the story.
- Normal public servants such as law enforcement, military, firefighters, security, healthcare professionals, etc. who became evil do not count unless they were actually heroes.
- Normal officials such as businesspeople, CEOs, managers, workers, doctors, scientists, school faculty, politicians, etc. who became evil do not count unless they were actually heroes.
- Young and naïve children who became evil do not count. They should go under Kids, Teenagers, and/or Juvenile Delinquents instead, unless they are reported to have done something truly heroic.
- Villains who simply lose most or all of their redeeming qualities do not count. They should go under Debased and/or Completely Evil instead, unless they actually did genuine heroism before becoming villains.
- Servants/Pawns: villains who served on the hero's side but in said circumstances have never done anything heroic do not count either (e.g. Darth Maul and Jafar). They should go under Servants of Hero instead, unless they actually did genuine heroism.
- Anti-Villains/Protective: villains who do have noble and/or caring qualities but were not heroes to begin with do not count. They should go under Anti-Villains, Vigilante, Protective, and/or Extremists instead, unless they actually were heroes who turned to the dark side and still contain their noble and/or caring traits.
- Nice people: villains who were simply nice people before they became villains also do not count if they did nothing truly heroic before they actually became villains. They should go under Affably Evil instead, unless they have lost their genuine affability.
- On & Off characters that simply go back to villainy after their non-pragmatic heroism without trying to make the situation worse or who occasionally do heroism time to time can't count (e.g. Death's Head), unless they've been heroic before or have not been shown to not regret ALL the times they were on the side of good even if they regret some:
- Famous people: villains that simply had good reputation do not count. They should go under Charismatic and/or Faux Affably Evil instead, unless they actually were heroes in the past.
- Protagonists: villains who are simply the main character in the story do not count either (e.g. Felonious Gru and Megamind), unless they were once heroes before falling to villainy. They should go under Protagonists instead. The villain must be a real hero in order to qualify or formerly were actual heroes before falling into the Dark Side.
- Adaptational villains who are heroes in their original work: villains are who are simply altered adaptations of heroes do not count. They should go under Adaptational Villainous Benchmarks, Type Depedent on Version, and/or Parody/Homage instead, unless it is established that they used to be heroes in the continuity of said adaptations.
