~ Captain Turner admonishing his soldiers, and inadvertently creating the Cobra Kai creed. |
Captain George Turner or simply, Captain Turner, is one of the two overarching antagonists (alongside Kim Sun-Yung) of The Karate Kid franchise.
He is the captain of the United States Army during the Vietnam War, whose ideals of ruthlessness molded John Kreese into the merciless man he is. While initially respected by Kreese and his fellow soldiers, Turner reveals his true colors when he insists in doing whatever they need to survive, even if that means killing themselves. He is also a high-ranking student of Master Kim Sun-Yung and a major threat in hand-to-hand combat.
He is portrayed by Terry Serpico.
His Evil Ranking[]
Him Villainous Deeds[]
- He learns the harsh ways of art from Master Kim Sun-Yung, until he becomes a captain who teaches his students to hit their enemies "mercilessly".
- He thereby teaches John Kreese and is thus a catalyst for the existence of the brutal fighting organization "Cobra Kai" and the demotion of Creese to villainy.
- He is sent to Vietnam with his unit and demands his soldiers to hit the enemy mercilessly.
- When their team was about to be revealed he asked Kriz to blow up the enemy base, even at the cost of Ponytail's life.
- When Ponytail is killed anyway by the enemies he decides to blame John for it.
- When his captors force him to fight he does not hesitate to harm his warriors and challenges to kill John.
- Before John volunteered he was supposed to defeat Terry Silver who was much thinner and weaker than Creese, which might have caused the captain to kill him.
- To get an advantage over Kreese he tells him that his girlfriend was killed in an accident and it hurts John's ability to fight.
- He fights John with force trying to kill him and then after John gets the upper hand on him asks him to stop after the Americans arrive.
- He most deserved his defeat as John throws him into a pit of poisonous snakes (probably to his death).
- Even after his death, his influence continues since he was the one who led both Kreese and Silver to the "without mercy" philosophy by opening up Cobra Kai, a violet karate dojo that trained many students to become ruthless and merciless to their opponents, in addition to his brutal treatment of his people further conveying the message.
- He is an absolute hate sink with no explanations, sympathetic tragedy, or lighthearted comedic moments. Therefore, he is taken completely seriously.
Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]
- Although his actions are a catalyst for the events of the series he stell fell The Karate Kid franchise's heinous standards since most of his actions were done off screen and were also below the standard of Kreese himself.
