Benjamin Franklin Chang, better known as Ben Chang, is the main antagonist of the sitcom Community. He is the study group's former Spanish teacher, later classmate, and the former head of security of Greendale. He is an insane member of Greendale's faculty, and the archenemy of the study group.
He was portrayed by Ken Jeong.

- During his run as Spanish teacher, he was erratic and aggressive towards his students, and would give out unreasonable assignments and punishments.
- He would often get into arguments with Professor Ian Duncan, and at the end of the first year, punched him in the face.
- During the first Paintball Assassination game, he tried to eliminate the study group to help Dean Pelton keep anyone from winning.
- He faked his teaching qualifications. When he admitted this to Jeff, it was recorded by Annie, who told the Dean, causing Chang to be fired. Chang thought Jeff was responsible and destroyed his car,
- He embarrasses Troy and Pierce by revealing they sent Valentine's Day presents to themselves. He then forces them to wear ladies pant suits to the Valentine's dance at the risk of not passing Spanish, when he thought they were trying to get him back for the embarrassment, when it was really Annie and Shirley getting him back for embarrassing Troy and Pierce.
- He imagines a conspiracy which results in him burning down Hot & Brown. This causes the Dean to back up his conspiracy, which makes Sgt. Nunez quit his position and being hired by the Dean as the new head of security.
- He hands the Glee Club cease and desist order from ASCAP to stop them from using illegal use of copyrighted material, and preventing the club from performing any of the copyrighted songs. Which causes the Glee Club members begin to have very loud and disturbing nervous breakdowns. Which results in them hospitalized and under psychiatric care.
- He and his Changlourious Basterds wreak havoc on a memorial service turned riot. Chang then convinces the School Board to expel the Study Group, tranquillizes the Dean, replaces him with a "Doppeldeaner" and takes over Greendale.
- He planned to set Greendale on fire.
- He faked having Changnesia, and worked with City College Dean, Stephen Spreck to destroy Greendale and the Study Group from the inside.
- He tried to get the Study Group expelled by sabotaging a Christmas party with their history professor.
- He teams up with Subway and betrays the group once he finds out that Greendale is being sold to Subway.
- He and the Greendale School Board try to manipulate Shirley and Buzz Hickey into admitting that they are trying to save Greendale. They also hold a computer named Raquel hostage.
Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]
- His actions are bog-standard at best, and his worst action of trying to burn down Greendale, he didn't believe the fire would spread and kill anybody.
- His actions are played for laughs and not taken seriously.
- He’s an anti-villain and has done plenty of good deeds. He has even helped the Study Group/Save Greendale Committee on some occasions.
- After reconciling with his wife, Chang tells the crowd that he has been a horrible teacher and husband, and calls off an essay homework that requires many pages for everyone. Though he did assign Jeff a short essay for betraying his friends.
- He saves the Greendale drug awareness show by acting crazy and showing some middle schoolers how bad drugs are.
- When Abed informs Chang that he knew he was faking his Changnesia, he also tells Chang that he was an important part of the Study Group and that he could change, so he decides to stop helping Spreck after that.
- He helps Buzz Hickey show Jeff the ropes of being a Greendale teacher.
- He puts on a backwards costume in order to help catch the Ass Crack Bandit.
- He and the Save Greendale Committee try to help Hickey reconnect with his son in a game of Dungeons & Dragons.
- He and Abed are the only members of the committee to support Frankie Dart when she is hired in Greendale.
- To counter an anti-Greendale commercial they planned on airing, Chang decides to create a scandal at City College by filming a pornographic film on its campus.
- After Season 5, he has fully redeemed himself and became friends with the Study Group/Save Greendale Committee.
