~ Belle Bottom dissuading Gru from joining the Vicious 6 for being a kid. |
Belle Bottom is the main antagonist of Illumination's 12th feature film, Minions: The Rise of Gru, the prequel of the Despicable Me franchise, and a minor character in Despicable Me 4.
She is a disco-themed supervillain and the current new leader of The Vicious 6, the worst group of supervillains in the world. She is the former friend turned arch-nemesis of Wild Knuckles.
She was voiced by Taraji P. Henson, who also played Miss Hannigan in Annie, and Constance Hatchaway in Muppets Haunted Mansion.
Her Evil Ranking[]
Her Villainous Deeds[]
- She stole the map where the Zodiac Stone is located.
- After Wild Knuckles gives the stone to her, she cuts off the rope he's holding as she tells him that she usurps his title as leader of Vicious 6. This ultimately led to Wild Knuckles eventually redeeming himself because of this.
- She rejected Gru's application to join the Vicious 6 due to being too young.
- She tries to get Gru killed after she stole the Zodiac Stone. This makes her hypocritical since that stone wasn't even hers in the first place.
- While she never establishes how exactly she'll do it, she plans on killing everybody in the AVL.
- She ties Gru onto a clock and has the hands stretch his arms until they cracked.
- She tries to kill Wild Knuckles once he returns and when supposedly succeeds again, she snickers at his death.
- She tries to kill Gru one last time, though thankfully the Minions come to his rescue and defeat her.
- While she never abused the other members of the Vicious 6, that's not enough to say she cares about them. If she is, she may most likely be doing so out of pragmatism considering she thinks Wild Knuckles is too old to be a part of them anymore while the other members aren't.
- While not entirely without comedic moments, she is taken more seriously than the other Despicable Me villains barring El Macho.
- While she danced to Gru's song at the end of the fourth movie along with several other past villains, there's no indication she is redeemed. Not to mention it is too vague to be considered a redeeming quality.
Why She Doesn't Stand Out?[]
- She fails the high heinous standard of the Despicable Me franchise because the most heinous villains try to kill thousands while she only tries to kill hundreds with similar resources.
- She is a parody of '70s pop culture, so her actions are constantly played in an over-the-top manner. Even though she does get taken seriously later in the film, she still has several comedic moments, such as getting miffed by Marlena Gru and her defeat and rebuking of her teammates as a mouse.
