Alton Devir is a minor antagonist in The Legend of Drizzt, serving as a supporting antagonist of The Dark Elf Trilogy. He is a drow sorcerer who went into hiding after his family was wiped out by their rival House Do'Urden. Along with Masoj Hun'ett, he set out to have vengeance on those who had destroyed his house.

His Villainous Deeds[]
- Like all drow, he worked towards the destruction of all other houses but his.
- His obsessive vengeance generally consumed every thought he had and influenced everything he did.
- After Gelroos Hun'ett's death, impersonated him for several years and helped Masoj cover up the murder.
- He summoned his mother's spirit out of Hell so he could ask her who had been responsible for her death, despite knowing that his could result in the death of both him and Masoj.
- When a demon punished them by filling the room with spiders, Alton overreacted and casted a fireball, burning off Masoj's eyebrows in the process.
- He worked with House Hun'ett to help wipe out House Do'Urden.
- On one occasion, he tried to murder a child named Drizzt Do'Urden simply because he was a Do'Urden, despite having no orders to do so and the boy not even having been alive during the fall of DeVir.
- Years later, he and Masoj once again attempted to kill Drizzt and his pet panther.
Why Doesn't He Stand Out?[]
- While his act of attempting to kill eight people is enough to pass the baseline, he still massively fails the heinous standard, particularly to his associate Masoj, who is far worse with the same resources and still doesn't pass the baseline.
- In general, his situation of having his family killed and being forced to burn off his own face in order to disguise himself is played for sympathy. It is frequently shown that he is trapped with death on all sides and has nothing left to live for but vengeance.
- He seemed to care about his family on some level, since he was enraged by their deaths and seemed happy to see his mother's ghost.
